Virlow

Assistant

An assistant that
works on your notes.

Ask a question and the assistant finds the note, reads it and answers with a link to where it found the answer. Ask for a change and it makes the change in the note, then tells you what it did.

It is built into Virlow and works on the notes you already have open, so there is nothing to connect and nothing to paste.

Part of Virlow Pro. Pro includes the assistant with 1,000,000 tokens a month. See Pro pricing

The notes and projects in these pictures are invented.

01 / Ask and edit

Ask for the change.
Undo it if it is wrong.

The assistant searches and reads your notes to answer, and each step shows as one quiet line, so you can see what it looked at. A note it names is a link that opens it.

When you ask for an edit it changes that part of the note and leaves the rest as it was. Every change has an Undo beside it.

It can also move notes, create folders, and set tags and properties. It cannot delete, trash or archive anything.

The Virlow assistant pane: a request to tighten a note's intro, the lines showing it read and edited the note with an Undo button, and an answer about a trial length that links to the note it came from.
One conversation: an edit to the open note, then an answer found in another one.

02 / In the editor

Rewrite what
you have selected.

Select text in a note and choose AI: improve the writing, fix spelling and grammar, make it shorter or longer, change the tone, turn it into a list, or say what you want in your own words.

The suggestion shows what would change, with the words taken out struck through and the words put in highlighted. Nothing in the note changes until you accept it, and accepting is one step to undo.

Two commands on an empty line do the rest: Continue writing picks up where you stopped, and Ask the assistant opens the pane.

A suggestion card under a selected sentence in a Virlow note: the shorter version with removed words struck through and new words highlighted, and buttons to accept or dismiss it.
Make shorter, on one sentence. Accept puts it in; Dismiss leaves the note alone.

03 / Yours

Tell it once
how you work.

Write the instructions it should always follow, and separate ones for a workspace: a tone for client notes, a format for meeting minutes.

Save the questions you ask often as prompts. They wait at the start of every conversation, one click each.

Your instructions, your prompts and your conversations are saved encrypted with your account, so they are there in your other browsers and Virlow cannot read them.

The assistant's settings in Virlow: instructions it always follows, instructions for the Harbor workspace, and three saved prompts.
Standing instructions, instructions for one workspace, and saved prompts.

04 / Bring things in

Files, the web
and your voice.

Files. Attach an image, a PDF or a text file to a question, by dropping it in or pasting it, and ask about it or have it written up as a note.

The web. Switch web search on and the assistant can look things up, with links to the pages it used.

Your voice. Dictate a question where your browser supports it.

The assistant pane before the first question: saved prompts and starter questions, above an input with buttons to attach a file, search the web and dictate.
Saved prompts first, then starters for the note that is open.

05 / The fine print

What it does,
and what it will not.

The assistant is an option, not a requirement. Your notes work the same without it, on every plan.

  • It only reads what it needs. A note is read when a question calls for it. Notes it does not read are not sent anywhere.
  • It cannot destroy anything. There is no delete, trash or archive, and it will not write over a spreadsheet, a diagram, a code note or a memory.
  • It can remember, if you ask. It can look through your memories and save a new one when you say to. It refuses passwords, keys and card numbers.
  • A monthly allowance. Pro includes 1,000,000 tokens a month, starting again on the 1st. Longer notes and attached files use more, and Settings shows what is left.

What leaves your vault

The assistant runs in your browser, where your notes are already decrypted. To answer, it sends what you ask, the notes it reads, any text you have selected, files you attach and, with web search on, the searches it runs to Anthropic, the company whose model answers. Anthropic can read that content, and its data policies apply to it. Files you attach are not stored by Virlow. Dictation is done by your browser, which may send the audio to its maker.

Two other optional features send content off your device: the hosted connector, which decrypts on Virlow's server while you have it unlocked so AI apps on the web can use your notes, and code execution, which runs your code on Virlow's service. The security page has the details.

Start with a question

Ask your notes.
Then ask for the edit.
